Martin has a wealth of experience, having been a chiropractor for over 25 years. He uses both McTimoney techniques and also manipulation, as required. He ran his own successful practice for all of this time, whilst at the same time working in close collaboration with local GP’s. They formed a team that worked together in order to ensure the most effective ways to treat back and joint pain. He relocated to Southampton and joined the Avenue Clinic a year ago part time and we are delighted that he has now agreed to take over Richard Barton’s patient list from June 2016. He attends courses regularly to make sure that he remains at the cutting edge of knowledge and implements evidence based practice when treating. He uses a gentle, effective method of treatment and aims to relieve patients of their pain in as short a time as possible. He tailors his treatment specifically for every patient.
Matthew is from Romsey, originally and attended the Anglo European College of Chiropractic in Bournemouth. He has been working for several years at the Chislehurst Chiropractic Clinic in Kent, where he came to understand the importance of a holistic approach when managing patients.
Sport has always been an important part of his school, college and university life, having represented Hampshire at tennis and his school and college at various other team sports. It was through a sporting injury that he discovered the benefits of chiropractic treatments and he is passionate about developing this area of chiropractic treatment further.
Matthew missed living close to his family and friends and so took the decision to move back to Hampshire and work with us at the Avenue Chiropractic Clinic.
Matthew looks forward to meeting all of those patients that he has not yet had the chance to say hello to, so please do make your usual appointment to see him, safe in the knowledge that he will keep you pain free, just as Verity has done for all of these years.
Matthew has made sport a big part of his life. This is what he says about his achievements to date.
“Tennis is my main sport and I competed at a county level representing Hampshire in all age groups up to the age of 16, as well as representing my school and college in other sports including football (as captain), rugby, hockey and cricket.
Injuries were inevitable when playing sport at this level, and I tore my supraspinatus muscle while representing my school at rugby. Extensive rehabilitation treatments sparked my interest in the human body and how it works and is the reason why I chose a career as a chiropractor so I can help other people.
I am also a keen golfer and have an interest in photography, with one of my photos used by the English Tourist Board on the French and German Buzzfeed domains.
I don’t ONLY treat sporting injuries though so if you are not a sports enthusiast, do please come to see me!”
